GREEN GABLES PLANNED
UNIT DEVELOPMENT
(Rose Homestead Park, 4th Street Park, and 3rd Street
Park)
This project is a proposed 253 lot Planned
Unit Development that will consist of single family homes and townhouses
on 55 acres in Ridgefield, Washington. 15 acres will include wetland preservation
and enhancement, buffers, stormwater facilities, open space, and neighborhood
parks. Three parks are proposed to provide a wide range of recreational activities
including tot lot playground structures, basketball courts, picnic areas,
paved and crushed gravel pathways, and multi-purpose grass open space fields.
All of the proposed parks are adjacent to the wetlands and will provide a
unique outdoor educational opportunity. The wetlands will be interconnected
with a wood chip trail system. Existing large trees on the park parcels will
be preserved where feasible, adding immediate impact to the new park sites.
Street trees will provide shade and create an attractive streetscape in the
neighborhood.
KLINELINE
BRIDGE
As subconsultant to the structural
engineer on this project, this bridge is currently in the design phase,
and involves the crossing of Salmon Creek,
which contains sensitive fish habitat. The structure will be a 145-foot clear
span using prestressed girders and a cast-in-place deck. 36-inch diameter
drilled shafts will be used for the foundations, going down to depths below
the bottom of the stream. Bank stabilization is occurring to decrease the
risk of scour under major flooding events. In addition to a bridge replace-ment,
the project includes the reconstruction and restoration of approximately
900 feet of Salmon Creek, removing old rubble and a man-made waterfall, which
has been a partial fish barrier for migrating species. A scenic overlook
at the center of the span on each side of the bridge is being planned for
the project.
